Center-back Virgil van Dijk believes that the season is still very long ahead and the loss to Leicester this morning was just an accident.
This morning, Leicester created a big surprise when they beat Liverpool with a score of 1-0. Ademola Lookman scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute. Liverpool also had chances to score. However, striker Mo Salah was unable to defeat goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel on penalties.
In the context that Man City and Chelsea have both pocketed the previous 3 points, this stumble for Liverpool leaves them further behind in the rankings. However, defender Virgil van Dijk has stated that it was an accident and there is no reason to look at Man City or Chelsea.
“What can we say. We are in December. The season is too long and anything can happen,” Van Dijk said.
“We have seen the current situation, with Covid and the injuries in the team. Things can change. They (Man City) are lucky no one has this case.”
“There’s no reason for us to look at them (Man City). Or look at Chelsea. Or look at any other team at this point in the season.”
“And we don’t look. We will look at our form. We have to improve and go to the next game,” the Dutch midfielder concluded.
